The Courageous Follower in Translation:

In the last few months a gorgeous hardcover Korean translation of The Courageous Follower: Standing Up To and For Our Leaders was published in Korea and a bright looking paperback of the book was published in Italian. The title is invariably challenging to translate into other languages, given the subtle connotations of "Follower" in each culture. The Italians took the bold step of not translating the word, titling the book "il Follower Corraggioso" and explained their choice in the preface. Italians have already adopted the English word "leader" into their language so why not "follower"?!

Latest bulletin received today: The Japanese translation rights to The Courageous Follower have been purchased by Diamond, a leading publishing company in Japan that publishes "The Diamond Harvard Business Review." It is noteworthy, that these other language editions are appearing more than a dozen years after the book's original publication, a testament to the increasing recognition of the field of followership.
